BITL ... plan for the future ... Before It's Too Late
Before It’s Too Late 4 (BITL IV) is a grant funded through Title II Improving Teacher Quality Program by the Office of The Commissioner of Higher Education. The program was designed to improve teacher’s of mathematics content knowledge in algebra, geometry, and statistics along with allowing them to develop contextually authentic problems. These problems are intended to assist 7th grade students in learning mathematics relevant to their lives and thus preparing them with a strong mathematics background. Students learn necessary problem solving skills for post-secondary education as well as their future careers.
Teachers attended one of two 5 day workshop at The Montana Learning Center at Canyon Ferry Lake where they deepened both their understanding of mathematical theory as well as pedagogy. Attached are the amazing lessons developed by the dedicated teachers who gave endless hours to enrich Montana math and hopefully your classrooms.
Many thanks to The Commissioner of Higher Education for the funding, the directors of the BITL grant for their time and insights, and the teachers for their blood, sweat, and tears.
